Hire Terms

These Hire Terms set out the agreement between Pierframe Vintage Cameras (“we”, “our”) and any individual or organisation (“you”, “the hirer”) renting equipment from our Brighton location. By confirming a booking you accept these conditions.

1. Eligibility

Hire is available to persons aged 18 or over with valid photo identification (passport or UK driving licence). Proof of address may be requested for first-time clients.

2. Booking and Deposit

Equipment is reserved after confirmation email and deposit payment. Deposits are held against loss or damage and refunded upon safe return following inspection. Bookings may be cancelled without charge up to 24 hours before collection time.

3. Collection and Return

Cameras must be collected and returned in person to 19 Gloucester Road, Brighton BN1 4AD during business hours. Late returns may incur an additional day fee. If you expect delays, please notify us as soon as possible so we can adjust schedules fairly for other clients.

4. Care of Equipment

All items must be handled carefully and kept away from sand, water spray and extreme heat. Use a camera strap whenever provided. Please do not attempt repairs or cleaning beyond wiping the exterior with a soft cloth. Report any fault immediately so we can assist and prevent further damage.

5. Loss or Damage

You are responsible for the equipment from collection until its return. If an item is lost, stolen or damaged beyond normal wear, we may retain the deposit or invoice for repair costs up to the replacement value. Insurance coverage for personal liability is recommended but not required.

6. Film and Processing

We supply film as an optional add-on and cannot guarantee colour accuracy or processing results. Exposure and focus remain the user’s responsibility. For local development we provide a list of trusted labs in Brighton.

7. Payments and Invoices

All prices include VAT where applicable. Invoices are issued electronically by email. Payments are accepted by card, contactless, or bank transfer. Cash payments are accepted on site for small hires only.

8. Liability

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from malfunction or missed shots. Our liability is limited to the hire fee and deposit. Nothing in these terms excludes statutory rights under UK consumer law.

9. Privacy and Data

Personal details collected for hire purposes are handled according to our Privacy Brief. We share information only where legally required or necessary for fulfilling the hire agreement.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to refuse or end a hire if equipment is misused or if safety concerns arise. Any remaining hire period may be refunded proportionally depending on circumstances.

11. Complaints and Resolution

We value fairness and transparency. If you have a complaint, contact us directly by email or phone. We aim to respond within five working days. Unresolved disputes may be referred to UK Trading Standards or Small Claims procedures.

12. Governing Law

This agreement is governed by English law. Jurisdiction lies with the courts of England and Wales.
